World Wisdom- Chief Arvol
At the young age of 12, Arvol was given the responsibility of becoming the 19th Generation Keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe – making him chief and spiritual leader of all three branches of the Sioux Tribe. — Over the past four and half decades, Chief Looking Horse has dedicated himself to the promotion of world peace and religious freedom. As the founder of World Peace & Prayer Day, he’s met with religious and spiritual leaders all over the world, including the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, to unite in a shared belief of peace. His speaking engagements range from opening prayers before numerous sessions of the United Nations to speaking on world peace at President Clinton’s inauguration in 1996. The Do Lectures USA is honoured that Chief Looking Horse will be joining us this September and look forward to hearing his message of peace and religious freedom.
Even though the video is from 2014, it describes very well the situation and the values of the Lakota. I visited Arvel at his compound in the trailer and experienced him as a leader on the spiritual ride to Wounded Knee.
With people like him, the spirit and values of the Lakota go out into the world.
